This post and a one that will follow are a bit overdue. I went to Sedona, Arizona for a vacation full of hiking and nature. It was gorgeous! Brad and I did a few day trips to places including Jerome, Tuzigoot, Meteor Crater, and Montezuma's Castle. Our friends, Matt and Halle met us for the last couple days of our trip, where we hit up some trails in Sedona and the Grand Canyon (those pictures to come in a later post).

This is in Sedona near where we hiked in Bell Rock.

This is Montezum'a Castle. A well-preserved cliff dwellings, over 1000 years old.

This picture below is Bell Rock. We hiked over 2/3rds the way up to the top. It was a beautiful view of Sedona.

The picture below is a portion of Tuzigoot Natonal Monument. Tuzigoot is an ancient village or pueblo built by a culture known as the Sinagua. The pueblo consisted of 110 rooms including second and third story structures.
We went to the town of Jerome, which is a historic copper mining town between Flagstaff and Prescott. It became a ghost town by 1953. In 1967 Jerome was designated a National Historic District by the federal government. Today Jerome is a thriving tourist and artist community with a population of about 450. Here is an old building in Jerome. I really the "Open" sign in the picture.
We did a hike into Boynton Canyon, one of Sedona's Energy Vortex. This was a 5 hour long hike, but it was worth it.
This is a picture of Meteor Crater. Meteor Crater was the first crater to be identified as an impact crater. Between 20,000 to 50,000 years ago, a small asteroid about 80 feet in diameter impacted the Earth and formed the crater.
The crater is the best preserved crater on Earth and measures 1.2 km in diameter
